Rev: Cretan goat; quiver and a bow behind.
Plancius and Diana
On the obverse of this coin is a woman, most likely Diana, goddess of the hunt Diana, wearing a Causia, an ancient Macedonian head covering. The reverse shows a Cretan goat in front of a bow and quiver. Hailing from the Plancia Gens, the moneyer, Cnaeus Plancius, was a quaestor in Macedonia and a tribune of the plebs. After being successfully defended against electoral bribery by Cicero, Plancius supported Pompey during the Civil War and was exiled to Corcyra, a small Greek island in the Ionian sea.
